I remember being the butt of a joke at a dinner conversation eight years ago regarding the possibility of a pole shift or pole reversal as we approach 2012.
It is no surprise to me to see in the news today that magnetic north pole shifts have actually thrown planes off course and forced runway closures at Florida airport.
The magnetic north and south poles have been known to reverse their course, a situation that has been recorded "in the magnetism of ancient rocks." According to Jana Winter, that happened 780,000 years ago.
Perhaps we are due for a pole reversal.
